The Watauga County Arts Council Offers Summer Arts Camp to Cure Those Mid-Summer Whines

July 2, 2014. By this time of the summer, your children have been out of school just long enough to tire of the time off and so they”re gearing up to start the mid-summer whining featuring such statements as, “I”m bored,” and “There”s nothing to do.”

Why not grab a last chance at giving them not only a cure for the whines but an energetic and artistically great week at the Watauga County Arts Council”s Summer Arts Camp?

For a whole week, children will be happily engaged in learning their roles in the classic children”s tale, The In fact Mercury and Venus in horoscope aries sparkle brightly together all through this week, so the arrival of the Sun is sure to add extra the vivacity and energy to the mix. Pied Piper. When they”re not rehearsing songs, lines and dances, they”ll be singing along with Pat Lanno (an experienced public school music teacher), telling tall tales with Dianne Hackworth (the famous professional storyteller), whipping up an imaginative creative project with Dacia Trethewey (visual arts teacher to many Watauga County children and youth) or letting off energy in a creative way with movement artist Mary Anne Meier.

The Missoula Children”s Theatre actor-director team has already pointed their little red truck in a Boone-ward direction and are heading into town to lead our camp during the week of July 7-12.

The camp will take place at Watauga High School from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day with some pretty amazing performances in the high school auditorium on Friday, July 11 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, July 12 at 1 p.m.

Registration is $185 for the first child, which includes two tickets to the final production and a complementary DVD, and $160 for each additional child in a family. To register your child for Summer Arts Camp, or for further information, please visit www.watauga-arts.org or call the Watauga County Arts Council at 828-264-1789.
