The Third Annual Evening in the Gardens with Artists Held at the Daniel Boone Native Gardens on Aug. 10

Aug. 7, 2013. The third annual Evening in the Gardens event, held at the Daniel Boone Native Gardens in Boone, is scheduled for Aug 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

“We host this event to offer friends of the Gardens and interested people in the community and statewide an opportunity to experience the Gardens and further develop our mission of preservation and education about native plants, creating an environment within the town of Boone that connects visitors to the natural world,” said Dianna Dougherty, Evening in the Gardens Chair.

This event is not only a fundraiser for the Gardens, but also acts as an exciting community and cultural experience.

Food and drinks are included with the ticket price, as well as music and fellowship to enhance the experience. Informal tours of the gardens will also be available for guests to enjoy.

Tickets for the Evening in the Gardens are $20 per person which includes food, drink, musical entertainment and the opportunity to participate in the silent auction for the art created in the gardens. The entire event is family friendly and open to the public, however, no pets – please.

“Gardens are a sensual experience,” Dougherty said.

“All of our senses are heightened by time spent within the Gardens. Sight, of course, but also hearing, smelling, touching, tasting.  So, it will be a fun evening as well as supporting an important cultural and community asset.”

Food and drink is included in the ticket price, which will be catered by the Blue Ridge Garden Club. A cash wine bar will also be available. Floral decorations and table arrangements will be provided by the Garderettes Garden Club and the Rhododendron Garden Club will be assisting with ticket taking and ticket sales at the door.

Live entertainment for the event will be provided by the Jazz Ensemble of Watauga County Community Band.
