Aug. 2, 2012. The old theater on King Street is looking better than it has in four years. Staff of Boone Public Works Department continue to dress the outside of the old Appalachian Twin Theater, constructing the black and white facade that has the letter “A” centered above the old entrance.
It is a faux facade and is temporary.
Town staff began working on the outside of the theater two weeks ago, eliminating or painting over the boards tagged with graffiti and cleaning up some of the “rough-looking” bricks.
All of this enhancement is intended on spurring interest and generating excitement about the capital campaign, which is currently in its silent phase, to purchase and restore the old theater.
