Aug. 19, 2014. The final installment of Ensemble Stage’s summer theatre lineup, Completely Hollywood (Abridged) will hit the stage starting Aug. 23 and will continue through Aug. 31.

hollywood-POSTER-PICCompletely Hollywood (Abridged), by Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor), is a rapid-fire comedy that stuffs the experience of 186 movies into one 90-minute show. Showcasing some of the greatest films in cinematic history, guests will enjoy homages to film greats like Casablanca, The Matrix, The Miracle Worker, Revenge of the Nerds, Ghandi, Grease and more.

“This is a really past-paced comedy,” said Gary Smith, artistic director at Ensemble Stage.

“The whole premise is there are three guys in Hollywood in the process of explaining the 12 elements of a movie and how to produce a blockbuster hit. They have created their own individual scripts and they throw them up in the air and come to the conclusion that if you have movies that combine things to make a good show, combining more things will make an even better show. The entire section act is all about the show that is created from these three scripts. It pays homage to Clint Eastwood and James Bond and superheroes. It is really very funny.”

The fourth and final installment of this year’s summer lineup comes at the tail end of yet another fantastic season of stage shows.

“It has been a very successful year this year,” Smith said. “Our attendance has been great, we have sold out a number of shows. Our audience and patron base is growing every year and the thing that we do that a lot of our patrons like is we don’t necessarily do shows that everyone has heard of but we go through a grueling process of picking our shows. We have had a lot of people tell us this year that we have some of the best theater they have ever seen.”

Ensemble Stage is currently in the process of picking shows for the fall and wintertime. Attendees can be sure that there will be the annual radio plays and Christmas shows, but dates are pending.

Tickets for the show are $21 for adults, $19 for seniors, students or military personnel, and $11 for kids age 16 and under. For ticket information, click here.
