Feb. 13, 2015. Clay Lunsford, a finger-style guitarist known for covering diverse styles of traditional music, will play the Jones House on Monday, Feb. 16, accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Matthew Weaver. Tickets for reserved seats are $20, and doors will be opened at 7:00 p.m., with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. This will be the first show of the Jones House’s 2015 Winter/Spring Indoor Concert Series.

claylunsfordWhile neither of these musicians are strangers to The High Country, this will be the first time they perform as a duo in Boone. Both are known for their capability on a multitude of instruments, with Lunsford recognized for his guitar prowess and Weaver known as a pianist. Both artists are North Carolina based.

Lunsford’s guitar style is in the vein of Chet Atkins and Merle Travis. He has performed in many groups, ranging in styles from jazz to roots of rock and roll, including an Elvis Presley tribute. A longtime performer, he has claimed to have played more than 10,000 shows.

“He’s really kind of all over the board and he’s a really great entertainer,” said Mark Freed, Cultural Resources Coordinator for the Jones House.

“Clay brings a lot of tradition, preserving and performing.”

His accompanist, Matthew Weaver, is proficient in nineteen different instruments, including guitar, fiddle, and his favorite, piano. He was the recipient of the 2014-15 Pianist of the Year for North Carolina and has been an instructor for music classes at Appalachian State University.

Tickets have been steadily selling, but there are still some available for this intimate show, which will have a capacity of only 40. To reserve a seat, call 828-268-6280.
