Oct. 21, 2013. Kids of all ages will find out why punkin is so much more fun than pumpkin at the annual Great Punkin Party in Valle Crucis.
The fun starts at 11 a.m. at the Mast Store Annex and includes games, punkin carving and decorating and of course food. All of the events are kid-friendly and encourage parents and children to have fun together. Take the challenge of Hoopla or hop down in the Punkin Sack Race. There’s also a ring toss and Punkin Bowling along with others.
Music will also be a part of the festival. Bob, the Singing Pilot, a “semi-regular performer” at the Annex, will perform many songs that you’ll recognize and is a staff and customer favorite.
The Great Punkin Party is a fundraiser for the Western Youth Network, a nonprofit group serving families in Ashe, Avery and Watauga Counties. Their goal is to mentor youth and help them to discover who they are and what they can be.
To find out more about the activities, call the Mast Store Annex at 828-963-6511. Party times are 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Remember to dress warmly in layers; all activities are outside.
