June 3, 2013. BOONE, N.C.—Two of the hardest grooving bands on the touring circuit are joining forces for a powerful night of music at The Boone Saloon at 9:30 p.m. on June 7. The Get Right Band (Asheville, NC) and The Mike Dillon Band (New Orleans, LA) first met in Charleston, SC and quickly developed a mutual respect. The two bands have decided to team up for a short tour and are playing Asheville, Boone, and New York City together in June.
“It’s truly an honor to be taking the stage with musicians of this caliber,” says The Get Right Band’s bassist, Jesse Gentry. “We were completely floored when we saw The Mike Dillon Band live—they put on an incredibly powerful show.”
For The Get Right Band, this is a chance to play with one of their idols. Mike Dillon has performed with countless national acts, including Les Claypool, Ani DiFranco, Galactic, Karl Denson, Charlie Hunter, and George Porter Jr. The members of GRB have been seeing him play in different projects for over a decade.
“Mike Dillon is one of my musical heroes,” says GRB frontman, Silas Durocher. Both bands together are going to bring crazy amounts of energy to these venues. And we can’t wait to see how sharing a bill with them affects our playing. These shows are going to be on fire.”
THE MIKE DILLON BAND
Mike Dillon is one of the most dynamic and multifaceted percussionists in the country, best known for his unforgettable live performances, unorthodox percussion rig and distinct original sound. After emerging in the late 1980’s as the first to lead a rock/funk band as a vocalist and vibraphone player, contributing to the instrument’s evolution by his use of effects, Dillon has become well-known for producing genre-bending music that transcends categorization.

Born out of Asheville, North Carolina’s supergroup Soulgrass Rebellion (who rocked Boone at The Saloon and Murphy’s), The Get Right band has been touring the East Coast and the Caribbean heavily since their inception in April, 2011. The band has rocked hard and jammed relentlessly every step of the way.
The Get Right Band’s debut CD, Shake, was released on February 22nd. The rock n’ roll album features stripped down but creatively layered and produced performances of the band’s original tunes. From the seductive blues of “Voodoo Doll” to the dance party vibe of “Chromaticize” to the Caribbean influenced “Touch The Holy,” Shake passes through many genres while being held together by The Get Right Band’s distinctive style. The album is fun, full of energy, and should be listened to with the volume turned way up.
The Get Right Band consists of Silas Durocher (guitar/vocals), Jesse Gentry (bass/vocals), and Chris Pyle (drums/percussion). The members of the band have played with many of the East Coasts greatest acts, including Laura Reed and Deep Pocket, Woody Wood, Josh Phillips, The Artimus Pyle Band, Scrappy Hamilton (now Truth & Salvage Company), Afromotive, and Royal Trux (Virgin Records), and have shared the stage with national acts such as Galactic, The Victor Wooten Band, Jeff Coffin’s Mutet, Larry Keel, and Bobby Lee Rodgers.
