The Fox Fire to Return to Legends Despite Hiatus Feb. 12

By Jay Salton

Feb. 12, 2015. The Fox Fire, a popular progressive bluegrass outfit out of Brevard, will return to Legends at Appalachian State University on Thursday, Feb. 12, at 9 p.m. Advanced tickets for students are $4 and tickets will be $6 at the door and for guests.

foxfireThis marks the second time the band has played Legends this academic year, the previous show taking place in September. While the bad is not performing regularly at the moment, the group has played special events and a show at Legends where the band has experienced consistently good turnouts and enthusiastic crowds.

According to Randy Kelly, program advisor for the Appalachian Department of Student Programs, the band was more than happy to take the time to play Legends, as the group receives more support there than almost anywhere else they play.

The Fox Fire got its start at Legends through The New River Boys, an old favorite among Appalachian students, who brought the band on as an opener in 2013. The frequent performances since then have gained The Fox Fire a local fan following, with many appreciating the group’s folksy, yet vigorous sound that has been compared to Mumford & Sons and The Avett Brothers.

“It’s going to be another one of those great nights at Legends, where everybody is smiling, listening to the music that they love,” Kelly said.

Tickets for this event are available at the information desk in the Plemmons Student Union and will also be available at the door the night of the show.
