June 6, 2013. On Sunday, June 9, the Blowing Rock Jazz Society will hold a concert at the Meadowbrook Inn and Suites in Blowing Rock. The concert, which runs from 7-9 p.m. will feature the ASU Faculty Jazz Quintet.
For 13 years, The Blowing Rock Jazz Society, which started out in June 2000, hosts concerts every second Sunday evening of the month at the Meadowbrook Inn between April and October. The lineup for the jazz concerts for the 2013 season is as follows:
- July 14: Larry Lapin with Michelle Amato
- Aug 11: Noel Friedline Quintet
- Sept 8: To be determined
- Oct 13: Page Brothers
General admission to each of the concerts is $20 for non-members and $5 for students. Individual memberships for the Jazz Society are available at $75 a year which grants entrance into all of the shows for the entire season. Tickets can be purchased at the door at the Meadowbrook Inn before the show.
“Jazz is the classic American art form,” said Fred Germann, the president and founder of the Blowing Rock Jazz Society.
“We want to keep the jazz torch alive for the community. We have been doing this for 13 years and people love it and keep coming back.”
