The Art Cellar Gallery Hosts Coffee Talk with Charlotte Painter Margaret Salisbury on Saturday, Aug. 9

Aug. 5, 2014. The Art Cellar Gallery Summer Coffee Talk series continues this week with well known Charlotte painter, Margaret Salisbury.

3388_483474l-1Salisbury will be in the gallery Saturday, Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. until noon to discuss her work. The popular coffee talk series features a different gallery artist each Saturday morning through the end of August. This will make for a pleasant morning to meet the artists, listen to a short talk, ask questions and learn more about the artist, their inspiration and techniques.

Margaret Salisbury began painting in oil in 1999 and always loved painting en plein air. She is often spotted on the side of our isolated country roads while she captures a beautiful scene. She is also always ready to put on her backpack with paint supplies and hike to find the perfect view or isolated fishing hole. Margaret also creates large-scale work in her Charlotte home studio. She is known for her warm palette and her ability to capture the atmosphere of the mountains, or the farm and farm animals and wildlife in our area.

Margaret Salisbury’s work is always on display at The Art Cellar Gallery, but will also be featured in an exhibition later this season. Salisbury along with three other artists will be part of the “Animals of Farm and Field” exhibition from Sept. 17-Oct. 18. There will be a reception with the artists Oct. 4 from 4-6 p.m.

Join the gallery staff and artist Margaret Salisbury for this week’s coffee talk. Come enjoy the three floors of exhibition space and the more than forty artists represented. The current feature exhibition of Herb Jackson “Form and Mystery” runs through Aug. 23.

The Art Cellar Gallery is located on N.C. 194 just before the Mill Pond in Banner Elk. The gallery also features its full range of artists on all three floors. Painting, sculpture, glass, wood and pottery is the focus of the gallery which represents artists from across the southeast.
