Jan. 12, 2015. On Jan. 5, 2015, Timothy Edward Taylor, 36, pled guilty to one count of first degree sexual exploitation of a minor and three counts of third degree exploitation of a minor in Watauga County Superior Court.
In May of 2013, detectives with the Watauga County Sheriff’s office received a report that Taylor had asked a minor to send explicit photographs to the defendant’s cell phone. Subsequent investigation revealed that Taylor possessed child pornography on his personal laptop.
Judge Marvin Pope sentenced Taylor to between 58 to 130 months in prison. Taylor will also be required to register as a sex offender upon release from the Department of Adult Corrections.
District Attorney Seth Banks said, “My office continues to be committed to aggressively prosecuting offenders who would take advantage of the most vulnerable among us, our children. I appreciate the hard work of Assistant District Attorney Garland Baker and the efforts of the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office in bringing Timothy Taylor to justice.”
