by Madison V. Fisler

Sept. 24, 2013. Sugar Mountain Resort’s annual Oktoberfest celebration is only a few short weeks away! On Oct. 12-13, the Bavarian-style celebration will welcome hundreds to Sugar Mountain Resort for drinks, chairlift rides, crafts, kids activities and so much more.

imgresOktoberfest began at Sugar Mountain 23 years ago and is still going strong. The family friendly celebration has so much more than beer to offer guests.

Live musical entertainment will be provided each day by the Harbour Towne Fest Band, and the Valle Crucis Middle School Band will give a special performance on Oct. 12, at 2 p.m.

Aside from the great music, there will also be a variety of craftsmen and artisans at Oktoberfest showing off their wares.

Artists this year include Taylor Made handcrafted jewelry, Buster’s Burnables and Jewelry by Jackie just to name a few. For a full list of artisans scheduled to come to Oktoberfest, click here.

No Oktoberfest would be complete without German food and drink! Bavarian cuisine at Oktoberfest this year will include bratwurst, sauerkraut, knockwurst, pretzels and more. And of course, you can’t have an Oktoberfest without authentic German beer.

If you think Oktoberfest is just for those over 21, don’t be fooled. The entire event is family friendly and even features a kid’s center with plenty of activities to keep the little ones busy. Kids can enjoy putt-putt, a bounce house, a climbing wall and more.

Chairlift rides to Sugar’s 5,300 foot peak will also be available during Oktoberfest for those who are looking for a little more adventure.

While you’re there, don’t forget about the Sports Shop Super Sale during Oktoberfest. For more information about the Super Sale, click here.
