Dec. 12, 2013. Studio K will once again take part in the annual performance of The Nutcracker at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts. The performance will take place on Friday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m.
This performance will mark the first time that the annual holiday ballet has been performed in the Schaefer Center after it was renovated from Farthing Auditorium.
This fifteen-year-old High Country holiday tradition will take the stage to delight visitors and residents alike with more than 300 local dancers who perform in keeping with the original ballet. This event is great for all ages and is a great family holiday outing for all.
The Nutcracker is a magical story of a young girl, Clara, whose toy nutcracker transforms into a brave prince and takes her on a journey into the Land of Snow and Sweets on Christmas Eve.
Audiences will be thrilled as the stage sparkles with playful mice, a court of soldiers, guardian angels, graceful snowflakes, waltzing flowers, precious bonbons, party guests, ginger kids and sugar plums.
Studio K Dance Company, located in Boone, has been committed to dance in the High Country for 33 years.
Tickets for the performance are on sale now and are $11 for adults and $8 for students and children under 13.
