Story Walk Brings ‘Little Rabbit’s Baby Sister’ to Downtown Boone March 13 to April 14

The Downtown Boone Development Association and the Watauga County Library are delighted to once again host a downtown Boone Story Walk. The downtown Boone spring Story Walk runs from March 13 through April 14. Families, schools and community groups are encouraged to participate in this family, friendly downtown event.

imagesThe goal of the Story Walk project is to encourage families to play outside, increase exercise, and promote reading. The downtown Boone Story Walk places a laminated page or set of pages from a children’s book in downtown store front windows. Children and their families can walk (or hop) from store to store reading the book while traveling through downtown Boone.

The Story Walk® Project was first created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library. The Story Walk program provides a fun, safe family friendly activity and provides families with the opportunity to enjoy and discover downtown Boone.

This spring’s Story Walk features Little Rabbit’s Baby Sister (Your First Adventure) by Marcia Leonard. This is a “choose your adventure book” allowing children to decide which route they would like to take on the Story Walk. The Story Walk starts at the Watauga Co. downtown Library and follows Depot and W. King streets. Parking for Story Walk participates is available at the library and the Queen and Depot street parking areas.
