Stines Sentenced to Prison for Sex Offense

On May 4, 2016, John Anthony Stines, age 33, plead guilty to four counts of attempted first degree statutory sexual offense.

On Oct. 12, 2015, a 5-year-old girl reported to her mother that Mr. Stines, her stepfather, had touched her inappropriately. The child was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Blue Ridge and disclosed that Stines had sexually abused her on four separate occasions at their residence in Deep Gap, North Carolina. The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office conducted further investigation which corroborated the victim’s account.
