From March 3-5 Speakeasy Tattoo Company is set to host a charity driven three-day weekend including free tattoos, local beer and a whole lot of community fun! Greg Kinnamon, the owner of Speakeasy tattoo, stated: “It is important for anyone to be a part of this event, but especially huge for Speakeasy because we are open 365 days of the year in this town. It’s good to have a day that we give back to the incredible community that has supported us for the other 364 because we wouldn’t be here without them.”

The charity weekend begins on the first Friday Art Crawl where they will officially release the set of flash designs that are available for tattooing on Saturday. It is important to know that any previously released design conceptions are not official, so you have to come on Friday to get the legitimate preview! After checking out the designs stick around to hang out with Speakeasy and kick off the weekend with a night of free beer provided by PBR, snacks provided by Vidalia Restaurant and an artist meet and greet from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 pm.

Free tattooing will begin Saturday, March 4 at 7 a.m. and will continue until 10 p.m. Each artist will provide a set of flash designs for each charity. Donate a minimum of $20 to one of the charities and receive a free tattoo.  Donations will be taken at Speakeasy that Saturday.  Proceeds will go to the following charities:

Wine to Water Medi Hospice
Blue Ridge Conservancy Watauga Humane Society
F.A.R.M. Cafe DIY Skate Park
Planned Parenthood

Designs will be tattooed by the artist that is next available, this is first come, first serve. You must be 18 years old with a valid ID to receive a tattoo.

The main idea that Greg wants people to know is that Speakeasy is dedicated to giving back to the community that has given so much to them. He states: “We just want to let the community know that we are behind them and this is for them. We want to give them a charitable reminder about their passion and their dedication to the community. The fact that they are willing to wear that passion on their skin says something about the community we are in, and it’s awesome to be a part of.”

On Sunday, March 5  the weekend will finish out with a celebration at Boone Saloon from 4 p.m. – until close. Booneshine Brewing Company will do a tap takeover along with local bands playing live music and DJ Overcash spinning the dance party.   The first 100 people will receive a free pint of Booneshine beer, discounted Booneshine will be available after that.  There will be a $5 cover at the door that will be split equally among the charities, plus a chance to win prizes from local businesses.

As the event draws closer and closer, it’s impossible to ignore all of the hype surrounding it. Even Greg himself said “This is going to be so much more than we could ever even imagine. We are creating excitement in Boone, and that energy just has everybody buzzing both in and out of the shop.” Make sure to follow Speakeasy on all of their social media channels to get up to date looks at possible tattoo designs, information on the event, and of course, see all the other incredible work that they do!
