Soul and Rock n’ Roll Band The Broadcast to Perform a Free Concert at Lees McRae College on March 23

By Madison V. Fisler

March 20, 2013. The Broadcast, a dynamic six-piece musical ensemble which channels rock, neo-soul and classical songwriting into one powerful performance will be making its way to Lees McRae College for yet another performance in the High Country.

On March 23, the band will be playing at Evans Auditorium at Lees McRae in Banner Elk, North Carolina. The doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the band will take the stage at 9.

“They have been having a very successful tour so far,” said Lydia Kanuga, the band’s publicist.

imagesKanuga said that The Broadcast has played 140 shows since they formed in Brooklyn, New York in 2010. Their tour stops include concerts in Asheville, Chattanooga and Winston-Salem just to name a few, and after their much-anticipated show at Lees McRae, they will be performing in Augusta, Georgia. The Broadcast has also played in the Boone area, with shows at Boone Saloon and Murphy’s on King Street.

Tickets for the show are free of charge, and the event is for guests 18 and up, said the bands lead singer, Caitlin Krisco.

“Lees McRae is a new venue for us,” Krisco said. “This is going to be a new introduction for us and we are excited to bring the heat and energy to our fans.”

Concert-goers should expect a high energy dance party that keeps you moving from start to finish.

“Beyond making music we are focused on creating a community of people to gather and experience something together. Few things gather people together like protest, war and music. Obviously the most positive is music and we want to give people that experience,” Krisco said.

The band also has their newest album release coming up in September.

The Broadcast consists of Caitlin Krisco (lead vocals), Aaron Austin (guitar), Matt Davis (bass), Rich Brownstein (keys), Tyler Housholder (percussion) and Michael Davis (drums). More information on the band and upcoming tour dates can be found on their website at www.thebroadcastmusic.com.
