It’s Snowing! School Cancelled, Up to 7 Inches of Snow Expected Through The Weekend

The High Country woke up to snow this morning that is forecast to last through Saturday evening. Secondary roads were snow covered this morning prompting public school officials to cancel schools for today. The Watauga campus of Caldwell Community College also canceled classes for Friday.

Ray’s Weather morning forecast is predicting 2” to 5” inches of snow to fall by Friday evening with another couple of inches expected on Saturday. The cold weather is forecast to last for the next week which is welcomed news for the ski areas. Sugar Mountain re-opened their slopes on Thursday, and Beech Mountain and Appalachian Ski Mtn. are to open Saturday.
