This has been and will continue to be a crazy week of weather. Though we aren’t in New England, Mark Twain would be proud.

The past few days have gone from shorts-and-flip-flops weather to snow showers – with a booming thunderstorm in between. And the gusty wind! On Thursday afternoon, snow continues to fall pretty steadily, but Saturday and Sunday highs are forecasted to be near or in the 60-degree range again.

Here’s how RaysWeather.com summed up the weather today:

“The weather car is on two wheels as we make the abrupt U-Turn. A cold front swept through Wednesday night with showers and even a couple thundershowers. Temperatures fell dramatically late Wednesday and continue to fall today. Wind… Yep, gusting to 55 mph early Thursday. Snow showers began before sunrise and continue well into the day with snow showers tapering to flurries this afternoon.”

RaysWeather.com forecasts that most of the High Country will receive a dusting to 1 inch of snow – with 1 to 3 inches possible at higher elevations along the North Carolina/Tennessee border. See more of the forecast here.
