More than 80 folks attended the Small and Mighty Acts February meeting at the Watauga County Public Library.

Eighty-plus people showed up to a meeting for Small and Mighty Acts, a grassroots initiative aimed at providing a common meeting space for those interested in civic and community engagement.

Small and Mighty Acts provides platforms for and models accessible, sustainable community engagement through educational and community building events in the high country. Attendants were from Boone and surrounding areas and several of the attendees (both individual and those representing other groups) presented projects and calls for action that attendees not already engaged in such activities could get plugged into.

The next meeting will take place on March 4th, from 2:30-4:30pm at the Watauga County Library. Several SAMA events are being planned for the spring, including Consider This: A Read-in for 21st Century Literacies in March, a Civics 101 Series in April and a Standing Up for Racial Justice workshop in may.
