With skydivers delivering the game balls to midfield during the pre-game show on Saturday, it’s safe to say that Appalachian State Athletics is pulling out all the stops for the historic showdown against the Miami Hurricanes.

Kickoff against the perennial college football power, which is currently ranked No. 25 in the AP Top 25 poll, is set for noon. The on-campus parking lots open at 8 a.m. and the gates open at 10 a.m.

While the overall game day experience at Kidd Brewer Stadium improved based on fan surveys after last season, ASU Athletics does have new additions specifically in place for the Miami Game.

Aside from the skydivers and Friday evening’s pep rally at Peacock Hall lot with two bands and special guests, Saturday’s game will feature additional seating or standing-room only areas throughout Kidd Brewer Stadium.

Head Coach Scott Satterfield told the David Glenn Show yesterday that Kidd Brewer Stadium is expected to host 34,000 to 35,000 fans on Saturday.

NEW ADDITIONS FOR MIAMI

Additional Student Section/General Admission – The student section/general admission will be expanded with a standing room only area in the south end zone. This will allow a limited number of students on field level close to the action, while accommodating as many students as possible. Space will be first come, first serve.

Added Video Board – An additional video board will be added to give students and fans another angle to catch all the action in Kidd Brewer Stadium. The board will be positioned in the north end zone.

Field-Level Seating – Field-level seating will be added adjacent to the south end zone to provide an exciting view of the game with a “premium seating” experience.

Skydivers – Get to your seats early as the game balls will be delivered to midfield by skydivers during the pregame show.

Pep Rally on Friday – Make plans to join us Friday night for our pep rally featuring multiple bands, App State Head Coach Scott Satterfield, food trucks, and App State players.

FAN SURVEY IMPROVEMENTS

Black End Zones are Back

App State introduced the return of the black end zones for the Old Dominion matchup last week, where the “White Out” promotional game served to contrast. The traditional black background look features gold “APPALACHIAN” in the north end zone and “MOUNTAINEERS” in the south end zone in block lettering.

 Merchandise

From the Aug. 30 release on merchandise suggestions from fans:

“Who doesn’t love more App State Nike gear to wear to the game?

We heard from a number of you in our fan survey that App State merchandise wasn’t readily available in and around Kidd Brewer Stadium on game day. We hope we’ve changed that. For the 2016 season, we’re adding an additional souvenir stand outside of The Rock so you can shop before the big game. The stand will be located near the ticket plaza and will have everything you need for the game.

Want what the coaches wear? We’ve added an expanded selection of merchandise to include Nike sideline gear. We’ve also added larger quantities of shirts and larger sizes to make sure size selections are more readily available.

Make plans to get your new App State gear before you go into Kidd Brewer for gameday and cheer on your Apps to another win!”

Stadium Accessibility

Crews installed 2,500 additional seats in the north end zone to give our Mountaineers the largest possible home field advantage. Aisles, handrails, and walls received a fresh coat of paint to improve the overall look and make Kidd Brewer Stadium safer. Fresh asphalt was put down on hill to provide a newer, safer walkway for fans who want to enjoy games on and around the berm.

With record crowds expected at times during the season, ASU Athletics added additional security, bag checkers, and ticket takers to make entrance into Kidd Brewer as smooth as possible. The printed addition of adding “East Gate and West Gate” to our season tickets will help balance out the crowd flow into the stadium. More entry points on the east side of the stadium were added to make entry easier and quicker.

“Our hope is that the little things all add up to 2016 being the best gameday experience you can remember at The Rock,” a release from the ASU Athletics department reads.

Concessions and Vendors
