Oct. 6, 2014. A Carolina Cash 5 jackpot and five big instant scratch-off winners highlight a week that brought more than $25 million in prizes to lottery players across the state.

The biggest winner of the week is also the biggest winner of 2014 thus far. The second player to win a seven-figure prize this week was Martha Harrison of Asheville, the latest player to win $1 million playing the $4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular game. She purchased the lucky ticket at the Citistop on Merrimon Avenue in Asheville. {Read more}

Margarita Mink, a McDonald’s manager from Clayton, said she plans to use the $386,019 jackpot she won playing Carolina Cash 5 to make some investments, some home repairs and go visit her family in Spain. {Read more}

EMS worker Larry Smith of Rocky Mount says he plans to use the $200,000 he won playing the Break the Bank game to pay bills, pay down his mortgage, purchase a new car for his wife and have some fun. {Read more}

Andrew Noga, a shoe salesman from Lexington, plans to use the $150,000 prize he won in the Caesars game to buy a car and go back to school. “I drove straight home and woke up my mom,” Andrew Noga said. “I said ‘Mom, I think my life just changed.’” {Read more}

Our final big winner of the week is Jayoti Patel, a homemaker from Cary. She is the most recent player to win $150,000 in the White Hot 5’s instant game. After buying the ticket at the Lake Wheeler Quality Food Mart, she scratched it off in the store. That’s when she realized she won the top prize. {Read more}

Instant scratch-off players in North Carolina won more than $19.9 million in prizes since Thursday, Sept. 25. During that time, players of draw games won more than $5.1 million in total prizes.

Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $120 million if taken as an annuity or $70.9 million if taken as a lump sum. In the Sept. 26 Mega Millions drawing, 30,586 tickets won prizes ranging from $1 to $5,000, totaling $103,896. In Tuesday’s drawing, 30,388 tickets won $95,848 in prizes ranging from $1 to $2,500.

Saturday’s Powerball players have the chance to win a $60 million jackpot if taken as an annuity or $36.4 million if taken as a lump sum. Wednesday’s Powerball drawing produced 13,386 winning tickets ranging from $4 to $20,000, totaling $111,854. The Saturday, Sept. 27 Powerball drawing produced 13,786 winning tickets ranging from $4 to $30,000, totaling $164,193.

Players in the All or Nothing game collected $410,620 in prizes this week, including 35 prizes of $500. The game’s top prize is $250,000 and drawings occur every day at 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
