Boone’s Public Works Department began sidewalk-enhancement construction in downtown a day after Independence Day.

Virginia Falck, downtown coordinator for the Town of Boone, said the project consists of replacing 400 feet of sidewalk along the north side of West King Street from Linney Street (near the historic post office) to Miller and Johnson Law Firm at 766 West King Street. Brick pavers, street and sidewalk lights at Linney Street will border the new concrete sidewalk.

Falck said the design is the same as last summer’s sidewalk enhancement project in the vicinity of the Jones House and Grand Boulevard and that construction is expected to last through August.
