This production is a comedy that focuses on Herb, a scriptwriter for film-producing Hollywood, who gets the surprise of his life when his past manifests itself in his present in the form of his teenage daughter Libby.

Libby has traveled all the way from Brooklyn in order to pursue her dreams of becoming a movie star.

Along with Steffy, a woman who is somewhere between lover and friend, Herb takes another shot at this parenting business in the hopes that he gets it right this time around.

“I Ought to Be in Pictures” takes place on the Blowing Rock School Auditorium stage at 130 Sunset Drive in Blowing Rock. Tickets are $11 for children 16 and under, $19 for students and seniors and $21 for adults.

Keep your eyes out for Ensemble Stage’s next production “Ears on a Beatle” by Mark St. Germain running from Aug. 29 until Sept. 6. This play centers on actual classified FBI documents in a time where the country was severely divided between wars and lies from the government. A veteran FBI agent and a new recruit are assigned a task of the upmost importance: get John Lennon, a politically outspoken activist, out of the country before Ronald Reagan runs for reelection in 1972.
