Scott Sentenced for Manufacturing Meth

On Sept. 14, 2016, Jeremy Dwayne Scott, 24, plead guilty to manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine precursor chemicals, possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule two controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling place for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On May 3rd, 2016 the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office conducted an undercover operation involving the purchase of 25 tablets of oxycodone from Mr. Scott. During the operation, officers stopped Mr. Scott’s vehicle and found oxycodone and marijuana inside. A search warrant was then executed at Mr. Scott’s residence and resulted in the discovery of items used to manufacture methamphetamine.

The Honorable Gary M. Gavenus, Senior Resident Superior Court Judge, sentenced Mr. Scott to a minimum of 4 years and 2 months, and a maximum of 6 years in prison.

“Because of the devastating effects that methamphetamine can have on families, cases like this one continue to be a priority for my office. To ensure that our children have a bright future it is important that we work to remove those who make meth from our community,” District Attorney Seth Banks said. “I appreciate the hard work of Assistant District Attorney Matt Rupp and the efforts of the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office in seeing that Mr. Scott was brought to justice.”
