After moving to North Carolina in 1987, Scott began to investigate the rich and subtle beauty of the Appalachian Mountains. During this discovery of the area, scott began plein air painting (painting out of doors). Later he became one of the founders of the North Carolina Plein Air Painters which organizes numerous outdoor painting events in North Carolina each year.

Working in oils, Boyle creates regional landscapes both large and small in scale, each with his distinctive style for capturing a rich sense of place.

Along with the coffee talk, the gallery is currently featuring the work of artist Jim Chapman with his exhibition of vibrant still lives which runs through June 28.
