School Delayed in Avery, Watauga on Monday Because of Icy Road Conditions

Public schools in Watauga and Avery counties operated on a two-hour delay on Monday, Jan. 11 because of icy road conditions.

Buses for both schools also ran limited routes.

In Avery County, buses didn’t run the following secondary routes in the Banner Elk area: Tumbling Brook, Perry, Beech Haven, Old Turn Pike, John Erwin, Reubin Wooten, Edgar Tufts, Dobbins, Horsebottom, Dogwood and Balsam. Also, buses ddin’t run the secondary roads on Old Beech Mountain. The pick-up point on Old Beech Mountain will be the Old Beech Mountain School.

In Watauga County, buses traveled Limited Routes A in all attendance areas except for Hardin Park and Parkway School, where they will travel regular routes.
