Savion Glover a Massive Success at the Schaefer Center; Next Performing Arts Show Scheduled for January

by Madison V. Fisler

Nov. 18, 2013. Savion Glover enjoyed a warm reception to the tune of more than 1,000 attendees to his first ever show in the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts, STePz, which he performed on Friday, Nov. 15.

“Though the show did not sell out, we had a little over 1,000 people come out to see him,” said Megan Stage, marketing manager for the Performing Arts Series.

Along with his performance, Glover also did lectures and demonstrations for dance classes before he performed onstage, sharing his career path and how he maintains his status in the dance world.

“With the Performing Arts Series, every event we bring brings with it a curricular component for the university and the community,” Stage said.

After the performance, Glover took time to answer questions and sign autographs for fans.

Glover’s performance on Nov. 15 marked the final Performing Arts Series performance for the Fall semester. After a brief interlude for the holiday break, the PAS will get right back at it, presenting yet another great performance in January.

On Friday, Jan. 21, North River Dance Chicago will premier at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts.
