Racing continues at the Mountain View Speedway on Saturday, May 14. The speedway is located in the High Country Fairgrounds off of Roby Greene Road.

Half of the proceeds from this weekend’s “200 laps of green-flag racing” will benefit Ryan ‘Possum’ Mullis, a 30-year-old in desperate need of a kidney transplant. The pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand gates open at 4 p.m. Hot laps start at 5:45 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. sharp. See list of races below.

The Mountain View Speedway is a family-friendly, alcohol-free event. Ticket prices are as follows: General Admission Adults: $10; Kids 7-10: $2; Under 6: Free; and Skybox Seats: $12.

Currently, the town has a cease-and-desist order issued for the Mountain View Speedway, but the racing group has pledged to fight the order in court and vow to remain racing each Saturday during the season amidst the legal limbo.

Attorney Nathan Miller, who is representing the Mountain View Speedway, said on Friday that racing will likely continue unabated until at least sometime in June, when the matter will return to the courts. Miller said that the town recently withdrew its motion for preliminary injunction after a judge denied the town’s motion for temporary restraining order on the racetrack.

“This ensures we’ll be racing until the next Superior Court week in June at the very least,” Miller said, adding that he’ll be asking the court to dismiss the town’s cease-and-desist order next month. Read more about the conflict between neighbors and the speedway here.
