Saddlebreds Receive Show of the Year Award; National Show Hunter Hall of Fame Recognizes Blowing Rock

Blowing Rock, NC: The Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show begins its 95th year of consecutive operation with two distinctive recognitions:

For the fifth time in eight years, the Twelfth Chapter of the United Professional Horsemen has selected Blowing Rock as the chapter’s Best Show. The annual award is chosen by a vote of chapter members. To have earned this distinction for so many years is evidence of the affection and appreciation Saddlebred exhibitors hold for this venerable event. In 2018, Alice Brinkley, a long- time exhibitor and volunteer for the Saddlebred show, is serving her first year as Show Chair. On hearing of the Best Show Award she said, “We appreciate the support, time, and energy the village gives the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show.  We are grateful to the many families who have supported this special show for decades.  We are proud to have earned this recognition and look forward to providing a family focused way to celebrate our beautiful horses for many years to come.”

In addition, the Hunter and Jumper Division was selected as one of the nation’s top ten horse shows by the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame. Additionally, Blowing Rock was among the nominees for the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame Show of the Year.

Founded in 1995, the mission of the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame is to honor excellence by providing recognition, education and appreciation for the achievements of the horsemen and horses who have given the sport of show hunters such a rich history. It is a distinctive honor for Blowing Rock to be included among on a nationwide list of highly regarded horse shows. To be included in among the ten largest and oldest horse shows in America is a distinctive honor. The Blowing Rock Show is produced entirely by volunteers and is the primary fundraiser for the Foundation which supports education and other charitable organizations in Blowing Rock.
