Rough Cut Cowboy Race Aug. 16-17 in West Jefferson: All Cowgirls, Cowboys Welcome To Compete in Timed Race

Originally published July 29, 2013. The Rough Cut Cowboy Race will be coming to West Jefferson, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 16 and 17. This timed event will test the skills of both horse and rider and includes a water hazard, steps up to and back down a trailer, crossing obstacles and more.

The Rough Cut Cowboy Race is open to all Cowboys and Cowgirls, 18 years of age or older or with written parental consent if the rider is under 18 years old.  The Race will be held at the Baker Farm, 3460 Dick Phillips Road, West Jefferson, NC.

Entry fee is $30 per rider and a $5 fee for each practice run the rider takes. First Place wins $100 and the top three riders will qualify for the Rough Cut Cowboy Championship Race being held at MidLand Majic on October 5, 2013 where the winner will receive $1000.00!

Practice runs will be held at the Baker Farm, Friday, August 16, 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, August 17 from 8 to 10 a.m.  The race will begin on Saturday at 10 am.

Concessions will be available, but remember to bring a lawn chair! A field has been set aside for horse trailers and tents.
