This week, the Roatary Club of Blowing Rock donated $30,000 in proceeds generated from its 2016 Rotary Charity Auction at the American Legion Building in August to various High Country nonprofits.

On Monday, the Rotary Club met in Chetola Resort and distributed the funds to nearly 10 nonprofits doing good work in the community. According to Rotary President Ray Pickett, the nonprofits receiving an undisclosed share of the $30,000 include:

  • Blowing Rock C.A.R.E.S.
  • Hospitality House
  • Hunger and Health Coalition
  • Mountain Alliance
  • Children’s Playhouse
  • Community Care Clinic
  • WAMY
  • Oasis
  • Western Youth Network

The $30,000 raised was a record for the annual event. To date, the Rotary Charity Auction in Blowing Rock has generated $125,000 for local charities.
