Rock Road to Reopen at US 321 Intersection in Blowing Rock, Temp Traffic Pattern Established

An upgraded intersection in Blowing Rock is ready to reopen.

N.C. Department of Transportation crews are opening Rock Road and its intersection with U.S. 321 in Blowing Rock on Friday afternoon.

Construction crews completed their primary work in the scheduled three weeks and will shift traffic into a temporary pattern in order to finish curbs, gutters and aesthetic elements. The improvements enhance safety and the flow of traffic to and from the highway.

The improved intersection leading to The Blowing Rock, Gideon Ridge Inn and local neighborhoods includes new grading, new paving, fresh signs and a squared alignment of the intersection.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, remain alert and expect delays when approaching work zones, including this area. Motorists should also obey all posted signs and the instructions of flaggers and construction crews on the project.
