May 19, 2014. With temperatures steadily rising and days lengthening, summer is rapidly approaching and pool season is nearly here. Starting on Memorial Day Monday, May 26, Grover C. Robbins Memorial Swimming Pool in Blowing Rock will be open to the public. The pool is located on Clark Street at Broyhill Park in downtown Blowing Rock.
Robbins Pool reaches a depth of 6 feet and is horseshoe-shaped with three lap-lanes and a waterslide. In addition, the pool is heated, ensuring a comfortable swimming experience throughout an occasionally chilly mountain summer.
The pool will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Public Swim hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday and during all hours of operation on Saturday and Sunday.
The admission price is $4 per day for youths and adults and $3 per day for children under 12 and seniors aged 55 and older. Seasonal and monthly membership passes are also available for both individuals and families.
Robbins Pool also offers swimming lessons Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. There are six levels of instruction available to accommodate the skill levels of all swimmers. Lessons are given according to Red Cross standards, and all swimming instructors are lifeguard certified. Prices for swimming lessons are $35 for members and $55 for non-members.
The pool will close on Labor Day, Sept. 1, so be sure to take advantage of the summer months and come to Grover C. Robbins Memorial Swimming Pool before it’s too late.
