The Fourth Annual Rising to the Occasion Youth Rally returns to the Old Cove Creek Gymnasium for a three-day event beginning Wednesday April 25 and running through Friday 27.

With a 7:30 p.m. start time each evening, the rally is hosted this year by Victory Baptist Church in Newland and Bibleway Baptist Church in Boone.

Supported and made possible by many of the pastors and churches in the area, said moderator/coordinator Ethan Greene, pastor of Victory Baptist, “We want to emphasize that this is not a one or two church meeting. It is for everyone!”

Always held on the last Wednesday-Friday in April, and with average attendance of 250 in years past, it is the hope of Greene and his fellow pastors that this upcoming rally will see an even larger crowd.

“The emphasis is on the youth, but we have people of all ages attend the meeting,” said Greene. “Our desire is to see our churches come together and encourage our youth to rise to each and every occasion that God gives them — and to make a difference in their generation for Christ.”

Greene added, “We also want to be a help to pastors and youth leaders in our area churches.”

On Wednesday night, music will be provided by a youth rally choir comprised of youth from the churches that will be moving their midweek service to be part of the event, Greene said.

Guest speaker for the Wednesday service will be Evangelist Cody Shew, described by Greene as “a former semi-pro bull rider who gave his heart and life to serve Christ and now preaches at youth revivals across America.”

Pastor Steven Aldridge from Pageland, SC will be preaching on Thursday night, and is well-known throughout many Christian youth camps and conference each year. The Rogers Family from Gainesville, Ga. will be singing that evening.

Evangelist Heath Williams “a highly sought after youth conference and revival preacher,” said Greene, will be preaching on Friday night, with special music by The Mylon Hayes family from Hudson. Many may recognize Hayes from his hometown of Boone and longtime member of the popular and well-loved gospel group, The Hayes Family.

Following the Friday night service, the gym will remain open until 12 midnight, offering attendees an extended time of food, fun and fellowship. Pizza and snacks will be served.

There will be Bible giveaways each night along with other special prizes.

“This is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend,” said Greene, who admits to having a heart for the lost and especially for the young people in our area.

The Old Cove Creek Gymnasium is located at 207 Dale Adams Road in Sugar Grove.
