Dec. 30, 2014. For many, being healthier in the new year is a common resolution. But this year, why not make your resolution stick with healthy lifestyle changes in 2015? Appalachian Regional Healthcare System hopes to help make it stick for as many as possible, when the Paul H. Broyhill Wellness Center hosts the “New Year, New You” event on Saturday, Jan. 3.
The New Year’s wellness event will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Jan. 3, and will act as a way to introduce the community to all of the great things that the wellness center has to offer. Participants will get the opportunity to visit the facility, enjoy free tours and sample a variety of fitness classes perfect for beginners. What better way to start out the new year than visiting a great venue to keep your healthy resolutions going?
“This is the first year that we have done a New Year event like this,” said Gillian Baker of Appalachian Regional Healthcare System.
“We wanted to make sure that people were ready for the New Year. Everyone makes resolutions and we want to do our part to help them keep those resolutions.”
Throughout the entire morning, participants can take part in one or many classes that the facility has to offer members, for free! The class schedule for the day is as follows:
- Water Fitness – 9-9:30 a.m.
- Yoga – 9-9:30 a.m.; 9:45-10:15 a.m.; 10:30-11 a.m.

In addition to the free sample classes, guests can also participate in complimentary health screenings, swim time, cooking demonstrations, giveaways and door prizes.
