Mason’s path to Hospitality House began in 2002 when she and former Grace Lutheran Pastor Tim Smith started WeCAN, the Watauga Crisis Assistance Network. That program went from an area church crisis assistance effort to a coordinated program under the Hospitality House umbrella. Previously she worked mostly with families and children but quickly found that working with homeless people, a misunderstood population, to be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. In 2005 Mason was appointed the Executive Director.

“Lynne’s leadership has been integral to the successes of Hospitality House and the people we serve,” states veteran board member Kay Borkowski. “We are pleased to be able to honor, celebrate and congratulate her in this way.”

Taking place outside under a tent by Chetola Lake, the celebration will be casual in tone as friends, family, board members, community members, staff members and former residents take time to honor Lynne’s dedication and devotion to helping people rebuild their lives.

“Kent Tarbutton and the Chetola team have always been wonderful supporters of Hospitality House,” states Borkowski. “Thanks to them, as well as to Hallmark Cakes, who is providing the festive cake, we are looking forward to a fun and enchanting afternoon tribute.”

If you wish to join in the celebration please RSVP online at www.HospHouse.org. If you are unable to attend the event, but wish to honor Mason for the difference she has made to the High Country community, you may contribute to the Lynne Mason Tribute Fund. Honoring is easy and will help propel Mason’s vision into the future of the organization. Gifts to the Lynne Mason Tribute Fund can be made online at www.HospHouse.org or checks made out to Hospitality House, with “Lynne Mason” in the memo line, mailed to PO Box 309 Boone, NC 28607.
