Carlton Gallery hosts its 34th Autumn Group Exhibition on Saturday October 8 with an Artists’ Reception planned from 2 to 5 p.m. Some of the gallery artists will be present to discuss their various art media for visitors and patrons. This event is free and light hors d’ oeuvres will be offered.

Gallery owner, Toni Carlton, invited some of her artists’ friends to share art offerings titled “Resonance of the Heart” for this Autumn Group Exhibition. This exhibition by Toni Carlton and Friends demonstrates the reach, the power and resonance of the heart. Carlton says, “The resonance of the human heart is hope for our present and our future. To embrace the heart’s resonance, use it and share it is fuel for humanity, as inspiration from our human connection ensures one’s happiness. Empower yourself to live purposely and you will inspire and engage with those who resonate with purpose”.

Through the use of multimedia including transfer images, calligraphy, touch drawings, acrylic paints and gels combined with hand woven fibers created on looms built by her grandfather and father, Carlton’s unique style is called “Art Blessings”. It is an offering of not only the creative arts; but also meditation, expression of energy through movement, sound, voice, writing, prayers and art making. Each modality adds a different element of expression that can be experienced, not only by the artist; but also by the viewer. Carlton wants “Art Blessings” to hold the space for people locally, nationally and internationally for the purpose of experiencing the Healing Arts combined with the Fine Art.

Carlton’s friends invited to share in the “Resonance of the Heart” exhibition are: Lori Hill, Deborah Tallarico, Kichung Lizee, Debbie Arnold and Vae Hamilton. Each artists’ work expresses their heart felt interpretation and is expressed in a meaningful and poetic way in their media platform. From detailed fine art drawings, mixed media on rice paper or canvas, water pastel on reclaimed wood, the subject matter chosen by these artists reflects their interest and caring for the environment, animals, ancestral teachings and endangered species. These artists joining Carlton in this exhibit are dear friends who have a similar interest in art making and participate in some form of expressive arts or spiritual practices, as well as those who have influenced her as teachers and peers.

This 34th Autumn Group Exhibition also features new paintings rendered in the beautiful colors of the season by Dottie Leatherwood, Linda Apriletti, Kevin Beck, Mary Martha McKinley, Egi Antonaccio, Trena McNabb, and Eddie Kent Tallent. The paintings are in many styles, subject matter and techniques defining the talent and creativity of these gallery artists. New mixed media works by Marion Cloaninger, Brenda Barber and sculptural glass by Fred Mead are also included.

The gallery represents two new artists, Laura Hughes and Paul Hastings. Hughes renders horses in a contemporary style using acrylics, while Hastings paints surrealistic landscapes in oils.
