By Paul T. Choate

April 4, 2013. As previously reported earlier today, Watauga County is currently under a winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Va., until 6 p.m. Within the past hour, several reports have come in to our office of very slick roads and hazardous conditions for motorists even on some of the High Country’s main highways such as U.S. 321, U.S. 421 and N.C. 105.

Given the and mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow, many roads may only look wet but in actuality could be icy. Drivers should exercise extra caution during this winter weather event.
