Mothers Against Drunk Driving

jordanpOn Tuesday, Representative Jordan joined the Mothers Against Drunk Driving National President Colleen Sheehey-Church at their press conference. MADD is promoting ignition interlock bills for all first-time drunk driving offenders. Rep. Jordan’s bill, H877, would move North Carolina in the direction that dozens of other states have already gone to make roadways safer.

“It’s a win-win situation with ignition interlocks,” stated Rep. Jordan. “The interlock stops drunk driving, while still allowing the individual to work and support themselves and their family, which a revoked license doesn’t allow.”

Rep. Jordan Wins Sunshine Award

This week, 24 legislators, Republicans and Democrats, received the “Sunshine Award” from the nonpartisan watchdog group Democracy North Carolina for submitting “superior” disclosure reports during the 2014 election.

“These legislators are a model for others,” said Bob Hall of Democracy NC. “As candidates and elected leaders complete their disclosure reports over the next several days, we encourage them to follow and even outdo the example of these legislators. Submit your report electronically, on time, and provide complete details about who’s giving the money and exactly how it is spent.”

“It’s an honor to receive this award,” stated Rep. Jordan. “Transparency in government and elections is crucial to having an informed electorate. I always want to do what I can to promote sunshine in government.”

Happy 4th of July

“This Saturday marks the 239th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence,” stated Rep. Jordan. “As we all spend time with our loved ones, let us not forget the sacrifice of those who bravely lost their lives for our freedom. The freedoms that make America unique should be cherished and valued.

“I hope you all have a fun, and safe holiday. I know you’re as proud to be an American as I am, and I hope we can continue to work together to make this nation one we are all proud of.”

“I am well aware of the toil and blood and treasure it will cost us to maintain this declaration, and support and defend these states. Yet through all the gloom I see the rays of ravishing light and glory. I can see that the end is worth all the means. This is our day of deliverance.” – John Adams.
