Registration is Under Way for Spring Craft Enrichment Classes at Appalachian State

Registration is open for creative spring classes in the Michael R. Patricelli Craft Enrichment Program at Appalachian State University. Craft Enrichment offers a variety of classes for novices, advanced students or individuals ready to explore a new hobby.  Classes are small, so early registration is a good idea.  Classes start as early as January 30, and pottery classes tend to fill up quickly.

Affiliation with the university is not required. There are four new classes this Spring – Introduction to Fly-Tying, Functional Felting, Crafting BBQ and Dulcimer Building.

Returning favorites include drawing, watercolor painting, stained glass, bead making (lampworking), digital photography, video production, glass fusing and slumping, beginning and intermediate jewelry making, advanced wooden bowl turning, and pottery classes for all skill levels.

Class cost ranges from $130 to $195. For most classes, the class fee covers the cost of materials, and for weekday classes it includes parking passes. Free, convenient parking is available for evening and weekend classes.  Craft Enrichment classes make a meaningful gift for students and adults who want to learn a new skill, build onto their knowledge, and connect to our region’s crafting traditions.

Small class sizes provide individual attention from instructors who are dedicated professionals committed both as teachers and craft artists. This spring there are weekend classes and classes held once a week over multiple weeks.  Professional-level equipment is available and participants have time to see where an idea leads in studio-based classes that promote the development of artists at all levels.

Online registration is available at  Craft Enrichment’s website.  Follow Craft Enrichment on Facebook -You may also contact Director Dacia Trethewey at craftenrichment@appstate.edu. Craft Enrichment is a program of Appalachian State University’s Department of Applied Design.
