Registration for Fall Craft Enrichment Classes at Appalachian State Opens at Noon Today

Registration for creative fall classes in the Michael R. Patricelli Craft Enrichment Program at Appalachian State University opens at noon on Thursday, Aug. 10. Craft Enrichment offers a variety of classes for novices, advanced students or individuals ready to explore a new hobby.

Classes are small, so early registration is a good idea. Affiliation with the university is not required. There are four new classes this fall – mixed media, felting for beginners and intermediate, felting for intermediate and advanced and beginning spinning on the wheel.

Returning favorites include drawing from observation, glass – fusing & slumping, flameworking, stained glass, jewelry – beginning, intermediate/advanced, painting with acrylics, pottery – intermediate with Dottie Baker, beginning with Tara Belk, advanced open studio with Nate Fields, decorating with images from nature with Jimmy Savely, and wood turning beginning and advanced.

Class cost generally range from $130 to $195. For most classes, the class fee covers the cost of materials, and for weekday classes it includes parking passes. Free, convenient parking is available for evening and weekend classes.  Craft Enrichment classes make a meaningful gift for students and adults who want to learn a new skill, build onto their knowledge, and connect to our region’s crafting traditions.

Small class sizes provide individual attention from instructors who are dedicated professionals committed both as teachers and craft artists. This fall there are weekend classes and classes held once a week over multiple weeks.  Professional-level equipment is available and participants have time to see where an idea leads in studio-based classes that promote the development of artists at all levels.

Online registration is available at  Craft Enrichment’s website.  Follow Craft Enrichment on Facebook -You may also contact Director Dacia Trethewey at craftenrichment@appstate.edu. Craft Enrichment is a program of Appalachian State University’s Department of Applied Design.
