As RaysWeather.com notes, Wednesday’s snowfall is just an “appetizer” for the bigger storm arriving Thursday night.

RaysWeather.com forecasts one to four inches of snow in most of the High Country with more snow in the western portions of the county than the eastern parts. See RaysWeather.com’s snow accumulation forecast map here.

The National Weather Service (Blacksburg, Va., office) issued a winter weather advisory for Wednesday’s snow showers, noting that the “heaviest snow can be expected along the western slopes.” The advisory began at  7 a.m. and ends at midnight.

As for the bigger snow event arriving on Thursday night and sticking around until Saturday evening, the National Weather Service is calling for 12 to 24 inches of snow and up to one-quarter of ice. See advisory here.
