Proposed Rule Repeal for Control of Rabies

The Appalachian District Health Department Board of Health (serving Alleghany, Ashe and Watauga Counties) hereby gives notice, pursuant to N.C. General Statute §130A‐39, of the proposed repeal of the existing board of health rule titled Rabies postexposure Management of Dogs and Cats that was adopted on Nov. 8, 2016. 

The board will consider repeal of their existing rule since the ratification of N.C. Session Law 2017‐106, Senate Bill 74 and the subsequent amendment of N.C. General Statute §130A‐197 will supersede the local rule.

The Board will consider the repeal of the existing rule, will hear from interested citizens, and may take action on the proposed rule repeal, at its meeting on November 14, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. at Mountain Aire Seafood & Steaks, 9930 NC‐16 West Jefferson, NC 28694. The Board may act on the proposal to repeal the rule at that meeting with an effective date of November 15, 2017, or may choose to defer action until a later meeting.
