Law enforcement officials are still seeking information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for stealing a Watauga Medics ambulance from Kidd Brewer Stadium during a football game last weekend and driving it to The Cottages, a student-housing community overlooking N.C. 105.
Boone Police Department spokesman Shane Robbins said on Tuesday afternoon that there have been no updates to report since High Country Crime Stoppers and the Appalachian State University Police Department offered a $1,000 reward in hopes of solving this crime.
The ambulance was taken during the Thursday night football game between App State and Georgia Southern at about 9 p.m. After the ambulance was stolen, it was observed on N.C. 105, heading south near the N.C. 105 Bypass.
At least one deputy checked the area of N.C. 105 South near Broadstone Road, according to a call log from the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, before it was found abandoned along Fallsview Lane, which is located at The Cottages.
Investigators with the App State Police Department had the vehicle towed to the Boone Police Department for processing, and a K-9 unit initially tracked a scent of the suspect before losing it.
Anyone with information on this crime or any other crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 828-268-6959 / 828-737-0125 or the ASU Police Department at 828-262-2150.
