Pigeons Playing Ping Pong

Mixing psychedelia with electro-funk grooves, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong is an instant hit for anyone who loves fun and wild musical experiences. The band has even created a Grateful Dead-like fanbase appropriately known as “The Flock.”
Since forming on June 16, 2009, the band has jumped head first into the nation’s funk scene. Fully committed to getting funky, the band now plays nearly 200 shows per year.
Its soaring popularity has given the band the opportunity to play some of the hottest venues and music festivals in the country. Most notably, the Pigeons have brought the funk to Catskill Chill, The Werk Out, Camp Barefoot, the Wormtown Music Festival and many other big-name events around the country.
The Pigeons’ popularity hasn’t been limited to funk fans alone. Knowing a stellar funk group when they see one, industry giants PRS Guitars and D’Addario, among others, have sponsored the band, helping the Pigeons rise to the top of today’s world of funk.
Unlike many bands, the Pigeons truly know how to put their spin on classic tunes, whether originally funk or not. You can watch many of the band’s live performances — like the more than 20-minute long, brilliantly crafted set of mashed-up Beatles tunes with funk twists — on the Pigeons website. The band has even been known to mesh the Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin into one, uniquely Pigeon-y funk experience.
In addition to videos of live performances, the band’s website gives you access to live recordings of Pigeon shows over the years. The site allows you to stream and purchase the bands’ two studio recordings, Funk EP and full-length Psychology.
The Pigeons have just announced that they will release their newest album, Pleasure, on April 1. You can preorder the album under the “merch” tab on the band’s website, where you can also find T-shirts, stickers and koozies for sale.
