On the first day of spring, Mother Nature dropped about one to two inches of snow on the mountaintops in the High Country, according to RaysWeather.com, and a dusting elsewhere.
“All the stuff that bloomed in the extended warm stretch is feeling the pain this morning. We have freezing temperatures again tonight with diminishing wind,” according to a forecast by RaysWeather.com. “A warming trend begins Tuesday: back to seasonal temperatures Tuesday afternoon, add another 10 degrees Wednesday. The next front arrives late Thursday night with rain beginning Thursday afternoon.”
Sugar Mountain Resort reported it received 1 inch of snow on Sunday.
Spring officially started at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday and by mid afternoon, snow was falling across the High Country.
