The High Country Fitness and Health Expo took place this past weekend at the Boone Mall, and fitness instructor and event organizer Ellen Russell said she was pleased with the participation during the second annual event.
“Oh, it was wonderful,” Russell said. “We had an amazing amount of participants in there and vendors and everybody. It was real exciting, great classes and great feedback.”
During the first year, Russell said about 14 vendors participated. This year that number jumped to 25. She noted that she expects that number jump again in 2016 because of several inquiries she received during the expo from spectators in the fields of mixed-martial arts and acro-yoga, for two examples.
This year’s expo featured a number of demos for fitness options such as Zumba, Zumba Toning, Zumba Gold, Zumba Kids, Insanity, Ballroom Dancing, Crossfit, Yoga and much more.
The event featured health and wellness professionals, including personal trainers, chiropractors, physical therapists and fitness instructors, all of whom were helpful in answering questions the general public had about different health and fitness options.
