Panorama: Big Picture Perspectives on Fascinating Topics on March 28 at App State

Appalachian State University’s Department of Communication along with AppSpeaks, a campus organization that facilitates discussion about important issues, are proud to present the fourth annual Panorama event. On March 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Parkway Ballroom (Room 420) of the Plemmons Student Union, eight students will speak about a topic or issue affecting the world today.

Their passion and unique perspectives will come through as they share their stories with the audience. The Panorama 2017 student-presenters are:

  • Kenan Dudley, sharing lessons learned from the study of improvisation
  • Paola Garcia, discussing LGBTQ rights
  • Hannah Godfrey, looking at the link between physics and psychology
  • Indigo Hollister, exploring the topic of food waste
  • Jenna Huff, offering insights into sportsmanship she’s gained from her experience as a runner
  • Hannah Lamb, talking about feminism and Christianity
  • Morgan Ledford, speaking on sugar culture in America
  • Laura Reilly, looking at linguistics and the power of language

Panorama offers the community a night of presentations providing a wide perspective on a variety of topics. AppSpeaks and the Department of Communication started Panorama to give students the opportunity to share their thoughts in an open environment with an engaged audience.

“The students selected to present at Panorama 2017 ask us to look at important issues that affect all of us within the Appalachian Community,” said Dr. Matthew Richards, faculty advisor. “We have strong student voices at Appalachian and I’m pleased we have a forum to showcase these students and their ideas.”

Come experience an inspiring evening and gain perspective on important issues from passionate Appalachian State students. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. and the event will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. A reception will follow with coffee and treats provided by Stick Boy Bread Co.
