One Person Dies in Single-wide Mobile Home Fire on Rainbow Trail in Boone Before Dawn Wednesday

By Jesse Wood

Jan. 23, 2013. At 3:41 a.m. on Wednesday before dawn, local fire departments responded to a structure fire on Rainbow Trail, and Boone Fire Chief Jimmy Isaacs said one person died in the mobile home fire.

Boone Fire Station 1 responded to the fire. Cove Creek, Meet Camp and Deep Gap Fire Departments automatically assisted Boone Fire as for protocol.  Isaacs said Cove Creek was held at Boone Station One; Deep Gap assistance was cancelled; and Meet Camp was released almost immediately upon arriving at Rainbow Trail.

“The structure fire was heavily embogged in fire on arrival,” Isaacs said, adding that other structures were threatened initially.

“We had those secured within five minutes after arrival,” he said, mentioning that the “fire was cooled down and controlled” after another 30 minutes.

The mobile home was a single-wide on Rainbow Trail nearby Rocky Lane.

Isaacs couldn’t provide any other details. He said that investigations were still taking place, and more information wouldn’t be available until after lunchtime.
